Some of my Favorite Quotes

But first I would like to wish a Happy Birthday to sweet Cassie over at Inside My Mind. Go and tell her yourself!!!

The joy of writing
The power of preserving
Revenge of a mortal hand.
–Wislawa Szymborska

You cannot fully read a book without being alone. But through this very solitude you become intimately involved with people whom you might never have met otherwise, either because they have been dead for centuries or because they spoke languages you cannot understand. And nonetheless, they have become your closest friend, your wisest advisors, the wizards that hypnotize you, the lovers you have always dreamed of.
-Antonio Muñoz Molinas

A book is good if it permits, invites or even impels a good reading, one in which the reader has submitted himself to the text, entering the "made" experiences, and been taken beyond himself. While good books can be read badly, bad books cannot be read well. The question is not whether it is a good book, but whether the book compelled a good reading.
-CS Lewis

“When my daughter was about seven years old, she asked me one day what I did at work. I told her I worked at the college - that my job was to teach people how to draw. She stared at me, incredulous, and said, "You mean they forget?" “
~Howard Ikemoto

Stories are a way of teaching. Our own lives are mirrored and intensified by stories. We learn the connection between things by reading stories.
~Robert Coles

All I need is a sheet of paper And something to write with, and then I can turn the world upside down.
~Friedrich Nietzsche

Art is the triumph over chaos.
~John Cheever

There was a smell of Time in the air tonight…What did Time smell like? Like dust and clocks and people. And if you wondered what Time sounded like, it sounded like water running in a dark cave and voices crying and dirt dropping down upon hollow box-lids, and rain.
-Ray Bradbury

Creative imagination is more then mere invention. It is that power which creates, out of abstractions, life. It goes to the heart of the unseen, and puts that which so mysteriously hidden from ordinary mortals into the clear light of heir understanding…Writers of fantasy, more then any other writers expect poets…are able to evoke ideas and clothe them in symbols, allegory, and dream.
-Lillian H. Smith

Dearest Libby, thank you so much for the birthday greeting/shout out!

Those are wonderful quotes and I can relate to so many of them! I like the Ray Bradbury one- he has a very gripping way of writing. Doesn't he?

When I have a bit more time I will reply to you comment that you left on my blog last night.

Love and Blessings,
Your friend,
Cassie

I love quotes. I like good ones even better. I like the C.S.Lewis one. But I think I like the Howard Ikemoto one best. That or the Lillain H. Smith one. Wait, now I can't make up my mind. All I know is I love quotes.
