My Goats + Breeding = “AWKWARD!”

Today I took one of my Oberhasli goats, Molly, to the breeders…
That doesn’t sound like much does it? But it was quite the experience!

(Tis Molly^, at a odd angle)
We finally got to the breeders (about a 75 minute drive) and got poor Molly out. It was then that we found out the “goat lady”(who we usually deal with) was out, so a guy named Jake came to help us. For those of you who know me well, you would guess my “enthusiastic” response to this. *wry grin*
He was around his mid 20’s and very “farmy”(if you know what I mean). But he seemed a little unsure of himself as he was picking out a buck. He finally brought out Bo…
We then knew for sure by her response that Molly was in heat, but we also found out…Bo…was too small… I can’t say a lot here, mainly because I don’t think you would want a vivid picture of poor Bo. So my mom went back into the barn with Jake to find a different, taller buck.
They came out, with an unnamed buck who instantly fell in love with Molly. Bucks do gross things when they are extremely and happily in love with a doe. For one, they, um, pee on their beards…and they jump around and stick their tongues out (while making a slight *grunting* sound)…I’m not sure I have ever seen a buck with its tongue *in* its mouth, now that I think about it.
But this goat, whom I shall call Romeo, Only wanted to talk to her, not do the business that we were paying for. And by ‘talk to her’, I mean, woo her, smile at her, pee for her, spit on her, lick her, and otherwise dance around her romantically. So after a while, Jake whined, “Well, I’d better help him.” You would not believe the reluctance in his voice. So with me holding Molly, and him, I’ll just say helping Romeo, I was thinking that this was getting a little on the embarrassing side of things. So I said so, “Wow, this is a little awkward,” looking at Jake. He laughed, a little on the nervous side, and replied, “Yeah, like Really awkward!”
Then Jake, mom and I all laughed. Hard. Then we also agreed, and thanked God that we aren’t goats!
Thank you Lord!!!

So any way, that’s what has happened today. My mother could more than likely tell this story better - I have tried. I hope you understand at least. =)

*(laughing)* That was really funny. What an experience.

But I must say I don't get what is so funny about the video. Maybe it's just me.

Oh, my dear smelly fellow farm-girly-pants, that was amazing. I think my esophagus just seized up from laughing so hard. Don't you just LOVE being a farmgirl? Ah well, the joys far outweigh the, erm, help needed :-) ---P

ROTFL!!! Oh boy did that post bring back memories! Thank you so much for posting that. My family and I used to raise Boer goats (meat goats) for many years. We mainly had does and bred them every year. We also had one buck: Chili Pepper. It was so funny seeing the way he got *cough* excited over the does that were in heat. :P

Hint: Toothpaste takes off the buck smell. :)
