You're on fire... no, really!

Just when you think everything is normal, quite, and relaxing... you get sent a little challenge to "liven" it up!

I was just grabbing my library book from my room and was heading out to the living room to spend some time with it. I had to go through the kitchen first and I'm so glad I did. As I was walking down our long hallway, there was a strange smell, like plastic... or smoke... or fire...
I calmly walk into the kitchen - I swear I wasn't expecting anything, then I saw it.

Flames.

   Big flames, that reached to the ceiling...

"Oh, nononononononono"  I said, not panicking I'm proud to say, I was more angry that fire would dare to set foot unwelcomed into my pyro family home then scared. I jumped the 4 feet to our island counter where a plastic bag and apron were ablaze, as they were to close to our gas stove. I graped a corner of the apron that wasn't on fire to pulled away but it was surprisingly hot (yeah Lib, it's fire you idiot), and all I had was the library book as my weapon. "dang. Poor thing"  I remember thinking as I hit the flames repeatably with it. I finally got the fire out, and then the smoke alarm went off.
Helpful huh?
That's when I looked at the book (pic below as shown shortly after).

So now I have a crispy book that I'm not sure what my library going to think about it, and slightly scorched fingertips that I don't mind, but at least I was there. I thank God that he allowed me to help out my family in this small but big way. It could have been worse. =\

Unfarwell!

Hiya! I'm back(but you didn't even know I was gone did you?)!

I was thinking about how I would say..."I'm back".

1) "I'm Back!"
2) "My Travels have cease!"
3) "I have returned!"
4) "My Journey has ended!"

But done of those really flowed for me. So I decided to go with Charlotte Brontë's way that she put so in her book, Jane Eyre.

(Yes I know ^this makes no sense)
Okay, she didn't say that. But she did have her characters "unopen" the door...

Strangely...I like it. =)

The Door Within

I recently finished The Door Within by Wayne Thomas Batson for the second time.
I first read this when I was 12yo/13yo (can't remember which one), and I was entirely enthralled by it. It was really the first fantasy novel I had ever read.
The telling of the Mortiwraith Falon captivated me. And I fell in love with all the characters.
If you have not read any of Wayne Batson’s books then I implore you to do so now, or in the very near future!

Also, Mr. Batson and Mr. Christopher Hopper recently paired up to write a book together. (I can's wait to read it!!!)

Darien's Rise

First of all,
Thank you Mr. Eastman for doing the contest. It was a lot of fun. Thank you also for a speedy delivery! =)
I have already started Darien's Rise by Paul McCusker, and have enjoyed it a lot so far.

Book Report and More!

Book report on, The Strictest School in the World.
Written by Howard Whitehouse
Illustrated by Bill Slavin

This was truly a remarkable written story. It had suspense, action, humor, and more humor that makes a story worth reading.
There was really only two downsides, first being that evolution was mentioned a few times (as in “and that was 3 million years ago!”). But not enough to make me dislike the whole book in generally.
The second, and the one that was used the most, was swearing.
Yep.
Now before you throw this book to the dogs, hear me out. All of it was done so by Princess Purnah. But as seeing that the princess was from a far away isolated mountain kingdom, and those cousins and uncles and aunts and every other relative in between is always trying to get the throne(as in killing, lovely =P).
But I honestly don’t think Princess Purnah’s language is a problem. For you see she hardly knows much English and thus here it was only words like, “Oh you Porok!” Or “You’s miztakes me, Glekk!”
SO I don’t think there is any harm, do you?

But simple a lovely read, parts of it though remind me of the Secret Garden.
So I must encourage everyone to read it. =)

What Lib is reading...

right now is The Strictest School in the World. By Howard Whitehouse.
Being the tale of a cleaver girl, a rubber boy and a collection of flying machines, mostly broken. So far its a top 5(5 being best)!

I am almost halfway through this quaint, light, moreover funny book.

I read the 3rd book first, The Island of Mad Scientists(I didn't know at the time the order of the series). Being an Excursion to the Wilds of Scotland, Involving Many Marvels of Experimental Invention, Pirates, a Heroic Cat, a Mechanical man and a Monkey.
In a scale of 1-5(5 being the best) it tops it at 4 and a half stars!

This series was meant for middle-aged readers-but heck, I like it! =)
