What are some of your favorite movies??
I am looking for recommendations.
(we have Clearplay so I can see most movies)
Please comment (if you have a moment) some of your favorite movies that you or your family like to watch. I would love to hear any of them. =)

Well, I'll leave a list and I'll check back to see if you comment back because you can ask me about any one of the movies that I list and I'll give you a synopsis and my rating. (The only reason I'm not doing it now is because I don't want to "waste" time doing it for movies that you have already seen):
The Last of the Mohicans
Miss Potter
Deep Impact

Left Behind
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Life Is Beautiful
The Patriot
Those are just some of my favorites. Please don't hesitate to ask for more info on ANY of them!!!
Your friend,
Cassie
Ditto Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008)!!!! I loved the book (big Verne fan here), but I loved that film, too! Really good, and not as corny as the old version.
I'll have to think of some more and post them later. :D

WOW! Thank you all!!!!
I am happily surprised by all the recommendations! More would be welcomed too though=) (I know, I know. I’m so greedy!)
Thanks Jo March; Apollo 13 is something I haven't seen in a while. I'm not sure if you’ll see this but what is Warriors of Honor about (I could look it up but I figure I'd ask you first). It sounds neat.
Cassie, you're so sweet!
Miss Potter is a very beautiful movie (if not a little sad)
Deep Impact, I don't think I have heard of this one...info would be nice=)
The Patriot...is and will always be my favorite!
I would love to hear what you like Marian!!! Pretty please with TWO cherries on top?
Thank you for the kind words Lizzy. I have not commented as much as I should lately either…just a little on the busy side right now. =)
Your list sounds very interesting! Could you maybe explain more on the one's I mention? Only if you have time though =)
Gentleman's Agreement
The Winslow Boy
The Railway Children (I didn't know they made a movie of them! I read almost all of the books a few years back)
Master and Commander: The Far Side of The World (This rings a bell...)
The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (2001)
The Outlaw Trail (this sounds cool!)
Earwen, oh my word. I also like newer 101 Dalmatians! And the LotRs is also my favorites but my sister and mother...how do I say it in a nice way? Dislike them...?
Thank you, thank you again everyone!!!
And my word! This comment is alarming long!
-L
Oooo... I second 'I Am David' by Lizzy. It's a beautiful movie that made me cry. Sob actually.
Miss Potter is sad. It made me cry too and so did the Patriot and so did Deep Impact and half of the other movies on that list for that matter! :p
Okay, about Deep Impact: It's basically your classic the entire earth is about to be destroyed my a meteor and mankind has to stop it. It's along the same lines of Armageddon, if you've ever seen that, only 100 times better and without all of the immorality. The only bad thing about this movie is some bad language, but if you have clear play, you should be Okay.
It's a REALLY touching movie about how impending doom impacts the lives of people on earth and it is exciting and sad. It's rather intense and is rated PG13, but it's a movie that both boys and girls can like.
I hope that helps! I watched it for the first time last weekend and LOVED it!!!
I just watched Amazing Grace this afternoon, and I really, really liked it.
I also enjoy Oceans 11, the new one with George Clooney. There is some content though.
The Dark Knight is good, Batman Begins is good, The Forbidden Kingdom (Jet Li and Jackie Chan's first movie together, awesome film!)
tons others, I won't bore you with a list. That'd take up too much space. :)
Just try to get me bored.
I want to hear them.
Thank you Cassie!
Ha Ha. Were do I begin?
Batman Begins - I loved this movie
A Knights Tale - A story about
nobles and (duh) knights with a
modern twist.
Up - It was so happy and sad,it's
got to be one of my favorites.
The Matrix - But you already knew
that.
Emma - by Jane Austen, any version
is good. For how could go wrong,
when Emma's matchmaking takes a
turn.
That's all I can think of right now. But I might remember some later.
Arsenic and Old Lace
Take Me Out to the Ball Game
Singing in the Rain (minus the neon bits)
Up
The Bishop's Wife
Around the World in 80 Days (1950's version, David Niven)
That's all I can remember for now. Love those musicals!
Hmmm, I'll try not to copy anyone!
The Importance of being Ernest.
Meet the Robinsons.
Gladiator.
Bella.
Hoodwinked.
Bleak House.
Finding Neverland.
Bridge to Terebithia.
North and South.
Wives and Daughters.
Cranford.
Ever After.
The Water Horse.
=)
Ok, here's some of them (emphasis on "some", lol):
Sherlock Holmes series, starring Jeremy Brett - There are tons of episodes, some of the better ones are "A Scandal in Bohemia", "The Naval Treaty", "The Norwood Builder", "The Copper Beeches". "The Blue Carbuncle" is a Christmas one, and also very good. The library might have them.
Some PBS stations play this Sherlock Holmes series on Thursday or Friday nights every week--if you can pick up your local PBS station(s), check their schedule. =)
Ben-Hur - epic. A must-see.
Mansfield Park (2007) - Some people don't like it. I love it.
The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982) - Mysterious Englishman rescues people from the guillotine. If you like Hornblower, you'll probably like this!
Master and Commander - This is like Hornblower, except on a bigger scale. Really good! Books aren't good though (bad language, I couldn't even finish the first chapter it was that bad).
Willy Wonka (1971) - A classic. Very funny.
Kidnapped (2005) - Scotland in the 18th century; swordfighting, a ship, being chased through the Highlands--great stuff! The guy who plays Lt Bush in Hornblower plays a villain in this one.
A Tale of Two Cities (1989) - Not the best cinematography, and may be a bit slow, but the ending is EPIC.
Nancy Drew (starring Emma Roberts) - Fun movie.
There's a 2001 Nicholas Nickleby, and there's also a 2002 version. Personally, we didn't like the '01 version, and didn't finish it. The '02 version is a little bit less "dark" (or something) than the book, but it's a pretty good costume drama to watch; I think it's only rated PG.
Hey, I just found you guys through my friend Marissa. I love your blog.
BTW, we have clearplay too. =)
Warriors of Honor is a documentary, but one of the best! It covers the incredible lives of Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. It's really great! We all (my entire family down to the youngest) enjoyed it.
Happy to oblige! :D
Gentleman's Agreement
This is a Gregory Peck film... very controversial in it's time, and SO heartwarming. It’s fundamentally, one man's fight against racial prejudice and for equality. I personally think it's one of the best I've ever seen. If you aren't a Gregory Peck fan already, this will probably make you one. :D
The Winslow Boy
This one is an English production. I was reminded of classics such as Jane Austen's, and Masterpiece theatre productions (probably all the British accents, LOL)... It's based from a play, and it's about a family who must clear the name of one of their own, and their fight for justice. Also, I can't help but appreciate the slams feminism gets in it. :)
The Railway Children (I didn't know they made a movie of them! I read almost all of the books a few years back)
I've never read the books, but the movie was very well made, and I know I loved it! I do know that the film is most definitely based on a book, so I'm sure that it goes somewhat along the lines of the same story. I really enjoyed it.
Master and Commander: The Far Side of The World (This rings a bell...)
Yes, Russell Crowe plays a wonderful ships captain. :D Kinda bloody at parts (not too bad,) but pretty realistic. :) A great 'character driven' story. :D
The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (2001)
What can one say to describe a Charles Dickens story? Simply wonderful... some VERY humorous parts, and some distinctly sad. Dickens was a master of the written word, and the movie does him credit! :) The film follows a young man and his attempts in trying to survive and provide for his mother and sister after his father's death, and the great misfortunes and windfalls that come about through his life.
The Outlaw Trail (this sounds cool!)
Haha, yes, VERY cool. Some people could think it's a little cheesy maybe, but anyone with real taste will definitely enjoy it! It's a movie set in the 50's or so, but centering more on cowboy type stuff, bandits and outlaws (obviously. :P) It's one of my very favorites. (And my hometown of Spokane, Washington gets some special mention too... which is definitely awesome! :D) The humor is great, and the emotion is real (plus tons of action.) It's a keeper.
Hope this helps some- I didn't want to give away too much of the stories in my descriptions. :)
~Lizzy
Let me see.
Well there are a few good new movies.
Like
Terminator: Salvation( although ther is a bit of swearing)
Star Trek (skip a scene)
And there is also;
Bread Alone,
Gladiator,
The Dark Knight.
I think that should do it.
~Calico Zak
PS I did not get Any Snow!!!! X(
I just came across this and a few movies came to mind.
Pendragon
The Star Wars Saga (I like these mainly because I fall for saber duels)
The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry
The Last Sin Eater
The Oath Of Desormeau
The Mysterious Islands
Time Changer
I don't know what kind of movies you really looking for,but I thought I'd through mine in. :)
~Katie
